I think that we need to think in slightly less mechanistic ways about the universe and not focus so much upon how to control and dominate the environment. I think if we learn to accept our place more in balance with nature, including our limitations and mortality, then our technology would look more like an extension of nature itself and not separate from it.

This painting had quite a complex journey and evolved considerably from its starting point. From the first sketch it became a smaller mechanical inspired colour design, but then this expanded out so much that this piece is only a small section of this finished image. Again there is a mixture of organic and mechanical forms, light and dark, life and death motifs. The overall tree and flower concept evolved as the picture did, but the mechanical/vertebrae repeating elements were an early feature. The delicate flowers and sky were brought out to balance the heavy industrial looking main tree shape.
